SAKO Architects’ proposal chosen for the master plan
↗Of the 9 foreign design institutes that were sent the request, 5 companies submitted proposals. At a presentation attended by regional activists, the proposal of Japan’s “SAKO Architects” was chosen; the master plan is being prepared together with this institute.
1/5/2026UZS 50 billion allocated for building the regional administrative centre
↗UZS 50.0 billion has been allocated from the republican budget for 2026–2028 to build new buildings and structures for the Samarkand regional governor’s office and state bodies. The list of addresses and the cost estimate have been approved and a contract has been signed with the contractor.
9/23/2026Construction of the bridge over the Karadarya is 74 percent complete
↗UZS 192.4 billion of work has been completed on the UZS 260.7 billion bridge project. Installation of support and span structures and construction of pedestrian and bicycle paths are complete, and tunnel construction has reached 95 percent.
9/23/2026Strengthening the Zarafshan banks: 69 percent complete
↗In stage 1 of the bank restoration and concreting work, concrete work has been completed on 1,500 metres of the right bank, and work continues on the left bank.
9/23/202615 lots in the Shirin area sold for UZS 121 billion
↗15 lots of 20 hectares in the City of Shirin were sold for UZS 121 billion, and the land plots were allocated to the auction winners in the prescribed manner. The near-term plans include putting another 8 hectares of vacant land up for auction.

↗By Cabinet Resolution No. 134 of 31 March 2026, the City was added to the list of modern “Business city” business centres.
3/30/2026State organisations to move to Shirin: 49 and 97 offices
↗Under the Cabinet resolution of 22 January 2026, 49 state organisations, and under Presidential Decree PF-177 of 28 August 2026, a further 97 state organisations are to move from the centre of Samarkand to the new administrative centre.
